Guido this is hoods wife. Hood wanted me to ask you if you know of any good laptop deals and what type of laptop he should he get? If anyone can shed some light on laptops it would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Well that's a good question. First thing to consider is price, what are you willing to spend? There are some great deals that  pop daily so I will post those links below. As far as "gaming" is concerned you really want something with a good laptop video card. The cpu would be the second thing to look for. Most of the cpu's out there will handle most all games so as far as getting "high end" wouldn't be the first thing on my list.
So I would recommend:
OS: Windows 7 64bit(anything but basic)
CPU: AMD Athlon II Dual-Core, AMD Phenom II Dual-Core(Triple-Core,Quad-Core), Intel Core i5(i3 are too underpowered and i7 are overkill)
GPU: AMD Radeon HD (6370M,6470M,6570M,5470,5870) NVIDIA GeForce (GTX 260M,430M),(GTS 350M,360M) (GT 300,400,500 series)
Ram: 4GB min - 8GB max
HDD: 500GB or more
Brands: ASUS, MSI, Dell, HP, Toshiba, Acer
Those are the main things I would look out for. You might also consider screen size 15.6 is typical. He may want something bigger like a 17" or an 18.4". Most come with a dvd burner but you may want a blueray disk player or even a blueray burner. Most come with a webcam some might offer better webcams.

Alienware are overpriced for what you get. It's really a pretty package you're paying for. In assume when you say you paid 1500 that's for the base model. I just ordered a new laptop from Dell(who owns Alienware)for the same price and I got quite a bit more from an XPS than I would have with m17x. Faster cpu, double the ram, almost triple the storage, true 1080p resolution and a larger faster gpu.
